Machinery industry performs well in Jan-Feb

The total fulfilled industrial output value of the industry was 660.24 billion yuan (US$82.4 billion) in the first two months of this year, up 29.4% year on year, 8.05 percentage points higher than in thesame period of 2005; and the sales value, 635.152 billion yuan, up 29.42%, 8.09 percentage points higher.
By sector, the top six sectors in terms of production growth were engineering machinery, which grew 47.49%; heavy-duty mining equipment, 34.75%; farm machinery, 34.62%; automaking, 32.69%; instruments and meters, 32.48%; and electrical engineering and appliances, 30.27%.
Of the 95 kinds of major products for which statistics were recorded, 75 reported output growth in the first two months. To be specific, the output of large and mid-size tractors grew 68.56%; that of compacting press, 63.48%; that of oil refining chemical equipment, 93.98%; that of noise and vibration control equipment, 233.33%; that of air pollution control equipment, 67.09%; that of paper making equipment, 77.59%; that of casting equipment, 84.39%; that of car, 83.07%; that of environment monitoring meters and instruments, 40.51%; that of digital camera, 21.32%; that of mining equipment, 26.94%; that of crane equipment, 28.6%; that of steam turbine generating units, 34.28%; that of power station steam turbines, 37.83%; and that of cross-country vehicles, 46.59%.
The sales/production ratio of mechanical products was 96.2% in the first two months, higher than the 95.8% in the same period of 2005 but 0.79 percentage points lower than the average level for industrial products.
By sector, the sales/production ratio for cultural and office articles was 100.07%; that of motor vehicles, 97.43%; that of universal basic parts, 96.9%; that of electrical engineering and appliances, 96.47%; that of farm machinery, 95.15%; that of petrochemical sector, 94.9%; that of engineering machinery, 87.41%; and that of internal-combustion machinery, 89.07%.
The export deliveries of machine-building industry totaled 105.413 billion yuan in the first two months of the year, up 23.82% year on year, but the growth was 5.15 percentage points lower than at the end of 2005 and 19.19 percentage points lower than in the same period of 2005.
